Going
into the Annual General Meeting last December we were without a Chairman elect,
due to the unfortunate withdrawal on health grounds of the intended Chairman. In the
best traditions of the Association, the Chairman, Peter Byworth, volunteered to Chair
the Association for the outdoor 2011 season, and the immediate Past Chairman, Len Smith,
volunteered to complete the indoor fixtures. We are deeply indebted to both Peter and
Len who have so willingly taken on this additional term of office out of their high regard
for this Association
Whilst it is a unique situation to have Joint Chairmen, we know that they will both
uphold the traditions of this Association throughout 2011.
Roy Cave had expressed his willingness to become Senior Vice Chairman, so after the
Annual General Meeting the Association had the 2011 season covered and a Senior Vice
Chairman ready to lead the Association into the 2012 season.
We expect this season to be as interesting as ever, with good competitive games, played
in the uniquely friendly "VP's" atmosphere that a certain body of people find is exactly
what they seek in the game.
Increasingly we find that Vice President's Associations from other Counties are mixed
organisations, and often play mixed teams against us. This is a situation that this
Association must resolve during the coming year.
