Fifteen teams had entered the County League Competition and it was decided to split them into two groups of seven and eight in each respectively, with each team playing the others once. In the 7 Team group each team would play 3 at home and 3 away, and in the 8 Team group 4 would have three home games and 4 away games, and 4 would have 4 home games and 3 away games. The draw for leagues was made (see charts below)

Top two teams from each Group to play in the semi-finals at Wellingborough on Sunday 18th September.

League Rules

1. The League shall be called the "Northamptonshire Bowling Association County League" 2. It shall be controlled by the NBA through the auspices of the Competitions Committee. 3. The League shall be open to all affiliated clubs in the County.

4. A "team" shall consist of three rinks of four players who shall each bowl two woods. 5. All players must be bona fide members of the Club, and may only play for one team from the club during the season. Having played for a team from their club they shall NOT be permitted to play for another club during that season.

6. A game shall consist of 16 ends plus two trial ends up to the Finals Day. Matches played on Finals Day will be of 21 ends plus two trial ends. Starting time for group matches shall be 10am on Sundays and 6.30pm on weekdays. The home club shall be responsible for paying any necessary green fees.

7. Points for League games are - 2 points for a winning rink, 1 each for a tied rink, 4 points for the overall shots winner, 2 points each if the total shots are the same. Total points for one match is 10. The winning side, in each group shall be determined by the most points awarded. If this fails to produce a winner, most shots up and then secondly most shots scored.

8. The matches on Finals Day will be determined by the total number of shots scored on all three rinks, if a tie exists after 21 ends, a further end will be played by a predetermined rink, plus other ends as necessary until a result is achieved.

9. The League Co-ordinator must be informed of all cancelled matches stating the reason for the cancellation, and the team making the request. Teams cancelling within 48 hours of the original start time will be deemed to be in default and lose the match 10 points to nil. All matches and re-arranged matches must be played by the end of week 35. Any matches not played, the Competition Committee will make the final decision, based on information received from the original cancellation.

10. It is the responsibility of the home club to confirm the result by telephone to the League Co-ordinator by 10.0 p.m. on the day of the match. All scorecards to be posted to the League Co-ordinator within 24 hours of play.
